Solar Schools
Elephant Energy is working to plant the seeds of a renewable future in the region’s youth through the distribution of renewable energy technology in rural schools.
Elephant Energy partners with local schools to provide access to solar lights through school libraries and to develop programs to educate students about the benefits of renewable energy.
We feel that the best way to educate students about solar energy is to give them the opportunity to check out solar technologies from their school library, learn firsthand about how they work and then share that knowledge with their families and friends. Making these technologies available in the library also gives students with limited access to electricity at home the opportunity to continue their studies after dark.
With the help of Nokero, a Denver based solar light manufacturer, the Solar Schools Project is bringing access to light and alternative energy education to a growing number of schools throughout Namibia.
